About Us

Curraghs Wildlife Park, Isle of Man
Ure Walks interpretation, North Yorkshire

The Osprey Company is a family firm which was first established in the Scottish Borders town of Coldstream in 1977. In 2019, we moved our workshop to the village of Etal in North Northumberland. Following semi-retirement in 2024, this has now closed down.

We specialise in the design and manufacture of interpretation and visitor management signs for nature reserves, heritage sites and visitor attractions - signs which need to blend sympathetically with their surroundings whilst getting over important conservation or educational messages.

Over 47 years, we have built up a wealth of experience in this field, with many hundreds of projects completed for clients throughout the U.K. and further afield, including national and international conservation bodies, many local authorities, trusts, private estates and businesses involved in the fields of heritage, conservation, tourism and leisure.

We have also developed a wide range of skills and techniques which have allowed us to produce signage in a variety of styles.  This has enabled us to adapt and combine processes to design signs and interpretation which best suit the needs of the specific localities in which they are to be sited.  We have also prided ourselves on being innovative in introducing new techniques and approaches.

Following semi-retirement in 2024, we are unfortunately more limited in the range of products we can supply but still offer a full interpretive design service, including map design and illustration, as well as the capability to produce outdoor graphics panels.
